About Pamela

Pamela is a Windows-based Cheque-cashing, pawnbroking, money-lending application - developed for Easypawn Plc. It contains many, many features (see the list below). The initial version of Pamela was installed at Easypawn's Anfield store in early 2002 and has been running there, without a single day of downtime, ever since!

Features

  • Fully-featured third-party cheque cashing
  • Fully-featured top-up-cash (pay day advance) loans
  • Pawnbroking, with facilities to move forfeits into stock etc
  • New! Foreign Exchange module (August 2007)
  • Unsecured loans (home credit) module
  • Repayments module for unsecured loans
  • Retail sales (jewellery etc)
  • 'Christmas club' function
  • Comprehensive, extendable set of reports
  • Full internal auditing system, tracking all data changes etc
  • Built on rock-solid responsive database technology
  • Easy to add further machines to the network
  • Stable and reliable

Requirements

Pamela requires one host PC and optionally up to a dozen 'till' PCs. The software and database reside only on the host, the till PCs simply access the software and information on the host. The application will run on the host-only, if required - there is no need to have more computers if you don't need them!

Host PC
At least a 1Ghz class Pentium (or more recent)
At least 512MB memory
At least 1GB of free disk space to hold the programs & database.
Display resolution of 1024x768 (or higher)
Running Windows 2000 (SBS or server edition), Windows 2003 (SBS or full edition) or Windows XP Professional
(we do not support Home, Media Center versions of XP as the host PC)
Broadband connection (for support and product updates)

Till PCs
At least 1Ghz class Pentium (or more recent)
At least 256MB memory
(The disk requirement for the till PCs is negligible)
Display resolution of 1024x768 (or higher)
Running Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP (Home or Professional, not Media Centre), or Windows Vista Business
As a simple rule of thumb, any PC bought in the last 3 or 4 years will work just fine!

Network
We recommend at least 10Mbps Windows peer-to-peer network using TCP/IP. Although the software runs happily on wireless connections, it is slower at starting-up than a wired connection and we advise that at least the host PC be wired to the local hub/switch.
You may need to run Windows Server 2003 (SBS or full edition) as the Host if you require more than half a dozen till PCs.

If in doubt, please contact Robsoft with details of your existing system and we will advise you regarding the suitability for Pamela.

Further Information

Although Robsoft Systems develop Pamela and provide second-level support for the system, the software is owned and distributed and supported by Easypawn Plc. All enquiries, including requests for demonstration copies, should be forwarded to Easypawn Plc.
